We are so excited. Today my youngest son had his official name change. Woot woot!!! The judge was awesome, he saw us early and we were finished before our court time even started.
Now we wait for the official paperwork from the court to be mailed, go back to the courthouse for multiple official copies, then mail all to Social Security. Need new SS Card before anything else can be done. The application to the court was made in October so this is turning out to be a longer process than I thought it would be. Even so, we will be celebrating tonight!
Jesse called this morning. The bottom of the trailer seems to be falling off. James found a welding shop real close. They welded it all, broken parts, cracked parts, good parts. We were so worried about the Suburban that we didn’t even think about the trailer. Good thing Jesse was checking this morning before they left. All is good now but Jesse will double check at Grandpa’s welding shop when they get to CA.
Arden will be home tomorrow, flying in from Oklahoma City for a court date. Not a bad court date, this is a good one. His name will legally be changed to Arden. Then a flight back to Albuquerque to continue the trip. Changing everything over to new name requires a new Social Security card so the only thing we can do while he is home is bring the paperwork to the Social Security Office.
When Arden leaves on Saturday morning that will be it. He’s officially moved out. I will probably cry on Saturday at the airport. So far I have only had a few rough spots, but we have been texting everyday and talking some. I can feel good that we did something right, that he can “fly”.
So today we have an empty nest. No, not the chickens, they are fine. Our youngest Arden, and his boyfriend Saturn, left to move to CA today. Our older son, Jesse, is driving the suburban (full) and towing a 24 foot enclosed car hauler (full).
Two of our girls.
When they started talking about moving last summer I was hopeful that they would not move that far away.
It has been a very stressful time for me. The move was supposed to happen with a U-haul and me driving, leaving the week before Thanksgiving, but the house they are moving into was not going to be vacated in time. When the house was empty it was two weeks before Christmas, then it would have been a drive out and fly everyone back for Christmas. Nope, just wait until later. Later was just after New Years. OK, by then the new engine for the Suburban was few days from complete. “Let’s save money and wait for the Suburban!”
Opps, need one more part. Then the tires took 2 weeks to get to Costco. Thanks Brandon. Tires put on on Friday the 14th. But it took more than 2 hours so Jesse didn’t get back until after 9pm. To late to go to Saturn’s, pack and leave.
New plan, leave on the 15th. Oh no, the burb wont start! Frantically figure out what is wrong. Could be two things, test one – it’s ok. Now we need another part. Closest part was one hour away. Off I go at 3pm. Home by a bit after 5. New part installed. Whew. After testing we leave for Saturn’s house to pack his stuff into the trailer. Back home by 1am. Jesse stayed home to sleep, as he had to drive.
Sunday the 16th! Check and re-check everything. Windshield washer fluid hose not connected. Fix timing one more time. They left at 2:10pm. Into a winter storm. I talked myself out of crying.
